McDuffie County Schools

The McDuffie County School District is located in east central Georgia about 30 miles west of Augusta. Interstate 20 runs east and west through McDuffie County. The district is very progressive and features several innovative efforts such as a 4X4 "8 block" high school schedule and satellite interactive distance learning. Many administrators, teachers, and students are eager to share information with other school districts and interested persons.

The McDuffie County School System serves 4,200 students in pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade. There are seven primary school campuses: Dearing Elementary PK-5, Maxwell Elementary PreK-1, Thomson Elementary 2-3, Norris Elementary 4-5, Thomson Middle 6-7, Thomson-McDuffie Junior High 8-9, and Thomson High 10-12. The system also features an alternative school program, Ombudsman; a comprehensive adult educational program; and psychoeducational services. The service area of the school district is McDuffie County with a population of 23,000 including the City of Thomson with a population of 8,000.
